LATEST NEWS:

2013 Up-date:
Well plans for this year's show are just starting, and there will be a few minor changes to this year's show. The adults fell race - a hotly contested race every year - has been put back and this year will start at 3pm. We are still awaiting for a decision as to what the "Men Only Cookery" competition will be this year - we have had Ham and Egg Pie, Victoria Sponge Cake and then last year's Scones - what this year's nail biting competition will remain a surprise at present!

With judges for all the classes being currently recruited and tents, commentators, catering etc being booked, plans are full steam ahead.

With plans falling into place, we all have our fingers crossed for some dry weather for the event and for all the rest of the shows such as ours held throughout the summer - please keep your fingers crossed that we get some much over due dry weather for the show!

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 24th August for a full and fun packed day of traditional country activities and competitions.

2012 Up-date:
Well this year we were not so lucky with the weather - basically it rained for most of the day and we had a very wet show ground to contend with, but despite the "lovely British weather" I hope a good day was had by all. We had a lot of visitors who braved the weather to enjoy a traditional Lakeland day out.

Again we had a good number of competitors in all events and the "Men Only" cooking competition attracted a good many entries and interest when it came to the judging the competition, with many men in the dale taking up the challenge of baking 3 scones - one plain, one fruit and one cheese.

We are still contending with the increasing costs of staging such an event as Patterdale Dog Day and we are indebted as usual to our ever generous sponsors and also our "Friends" for their financial support. Without this support the event could not happen. It was particularly generous this year especially in this difficult financial times which many businesses have experienced this year.

Our fund raising initiative of "Friends of Patterdale Dog Day" continues to grow with more people becoming "Friends" this year. The cost of becoming a "Friend" is £25 per annum and in return you receive 2 free entrance tickets and an acknowledgement of your support in the program. If anyone is interested in becoming a "Friend" for future then please do get in touch with the secretary and she will send a membership form to you.

The results from this year’s show are now listed below.

Finally all that is left for us to do is thank everyone who helped us to stage this year's event, without all the help which we receive the event would not happen, and to also thank everyone who attended, without you there would be no point in holding the show!

Patterdale Dog Day

Welcome to Patterdale Dog Day, our small show runs on the Saturday of the August Bank Holiday weekend and is centred around an open sheep dog trials competition. As well as the dog trial there are many other attractions and shows to keep you entertained throughout the day.

Our traditional country show is situated in one of the most beautiful locations in England.
The show field experiences the spectacular back drop of some of the most beautiful lakeland fells including part of the Helvellyn massif.

Patterdale Dog Day is one of the few remaining genuinely traditional shows. 2011's show is the 108th show to be held at Patterdale and we hope you will join us to enjoy the day.

Come to our day, stay a while amid the beauty of this lovely Lakeland dale and mingle with hill farmers, their families, local residents and visitors from around the world. Take a while to listen to the ancient Cumbrian dialect whilst enjoying the attractions for a leisurely few hours.

Among the attractions on the day include:
